Anyah Suderman
Licensed Massage Therapist
Anyah is currently not taking new appointments.
A lifelong interest in movement and body mechanics through yoga, dance, sports, and the arts has led Anyah to work with individuals to heal by helping them understand a deeper sense of self. She believes that massage can assist all people in finding release and resolving pain within themselves, and is a catalyst to self help. Anyah works with clients to address ...more specific goals which are discussed prior to each session. She firmly believes that “pain is not a lifestyle” and there is nothing more empowering than experiencing the ability to find freedom from discomfort, trauma and physical limitations. As a recent survivor of a traumatic car accident, she has personally undergone a successful full rehabilitation of her lower extremities and has learned that there is a solution to unhinging from chronic physical and psychological trauma. With the help of a knowledgeable and understanding massage therapist, one is able to bridge the gap between chronic pain, stress, injuries, fear of movement, etc to finding tools within oneself to let go of habitual tension, fatigue, tight muscles, injury and misalignment. Anyah is a graduate of Elizabeth Grady School of Esthetics and Massage Therapy, a Certified Yoga Trapeze Instructor with YogaBody Teachers College, studied at the University of Georgia in Athens, and earned her BFA from the Corcoran College of Art and Design. A creative and intuitive approach as a community and visual artist has lent a hand in her approach as a muscular therapist, inherently using deep tissue, trigger point, myofascial and reflexology techniques to access and respond to muscular imbalance. Anyah’s previous professional experience as a court appointed legal guardian for elders, a community art facilitator, program director for arts based non profits in both DC and the Boston area, a studio artist and mother of a teenage boy provides for a wealth of insight with regard to community building and a client centered practice. ...less
